  • Learn if You’re Eligible for Original Medicare
August 10, 2023
Here's some information regarding Medicare qualifications.

Generally, if you are a U.S. citizen or a legal permanent resident of at least 5 continuous years, you are eligible for Original Medicare (Parts A and B). Now, let's dive into the specifics:

  1. If you are 65 years or older and eligible for Social Security, you automatically qualify for Original Medicare.
  2. If you are under 65 years old and permanently disabled, receiving disability benefits from either Social Security or the Railroad Retirement Board, you are also eligible for Original Medicare.
  3. In the case of end-stage renal disease (ESRD), you are eligible for Original Medicare.
  4. Lastly, if you have ALS (Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis), also known as Lou Gehrig's disease, you are qualified for Original Medicare.

These qualifications serve as a guideline to determine your eligibility for Medicare. If you meet any of the criteria mentioned above, you can confidently apply for Medicare coverage.
